TO KISS YOU ONCE MORE (written by Jack Speer, produced by Tre' Corley, vocals by Tim Buppert):
This song evolved very quickly when I saw Nancy Reagan kiss the casket of President Ronald Reagan on TV. I became extremely emotional, as It brought back images of my mother kissing my father goodbye, as he passed away suddenly, only 2 years previously to President Reagan. I realize the more upbeat songs are preferred, but the emotions of this sad occasion dictated the slower, somber meter.
Very sad but sweet song. Ya its slower but it picks up to a nice pace and still keeps the feel! Even though they sounded great, I actually didn’t feel a lot of the 2nd voice doing the echo lines needed to be in there. Your lyrics were great and Tim’s voice sounds fantastic and I was totally on board with his voice and the other harmonies and I thought the music was carrying the melody smoothly. Love your recordings, you have great production and such a great mix. I have such a hard time when it comes to the mixing. Good stuff Jack!

The bridge (“I wait all day long to dream of you at night…”) is not quite up to the first-rate level of the verses (“Take all my possessions…), imho, but this is a SMALL quibble—I think this song is first-rate—I am glad you write songs, because I think you definitely have talent in the songwriting arena. Keep up the good work, and best wishes!!!

Take all my possessions,
I won’t need them now,
The hole in my heart has no cure.
I’d lay down my life
For just one more day
To hold you and to kiss you once more.
Friends say, “Hang in there,
Life goes on.”
Well, time passes by, that’s for sure.
But, all I can do,
Is think about you,
To hold you and to kiss you once more.
I wait all day long to dream of you at night,
(I can’t wait to dream of you at night)
I fall asleep to find you there,
(I close my eyes and see you everywhere)
You hold me close and call my name,
(I hear you Baby, I’m right here by your side)
But, when I awake, you disappear.
So, take all my possessions,
I won’t need them now,
The hole in my heart has no cure.
I’d lay down my life
For just one more day
To hold you and to kiss you once more,
To hold you and to kiss you once more.
