About This Song

WHOLE LOTTA THINKIN’ ‘BOUT YOU (written by Jack Speer, sung by Jack Speer, produced by Tim Buppert):

I grew up in a very small town (population around 2,000) with brick streets. And, as a kid, I rode my bike everywhere. In those days, it wasn't uncommon for a 10-year old kid to play with other kids at the City Park all day long. Everyone knew everyone and nobody locked their doors. Fast forward to 2007, as a member of NSAI, we engaged in exercises to paint detailed verbal pictures, i.e. "Furniture." So, I reflected on the brick streets and how my bike tires would sing on those old brick streets. The rest of the song took on a story line of its own...

Hi Jack,

for my opinion a nice lyric that deserves a better musical setting. The melody is a bit boring and old-fashioned. Keep on!

A WHOLE LOTTO’ THINKIN’ ‘BOUT...

Written by Jack Speer

I’d fly down that hill on my ten-speed,
Tires would sing on those old brick streets,
As I’d coast for what seemed like a country mile.

Funny, how that back-home climb,
Took me by your house each time,
Hoping you might be outside, so I could catch your smile.

It seems so long ago,
Like a black and white picture show,
And the love we knew back then – still grows.

I can see your smiling face,
Every time I drive by your old place,
I can hear your voice,
Smell your sweet perfume.

So many miles from then to now,
And from those times in that small town,
But, I can’t go back home,
Without a whole lotto thinkin’ ‘bout you.

Like the time I walked you home,
In the pouring rain,
You squeezed my hand and then you kissed me,
Right there on Beach and Main.

Now, our son rides that old ten-speed,
Many miles from those back-home streets,
And he’s gone sometimes for quite a while.

Takes me back to younger days,
When I was just about his age,
After all these years, it still brings a smile.

I can see your smiling face,
Every time I go by your old place,
I can hear your voice,
Smell your sweet perfume.

So many miles from then to now,
And from those times in that small town,
But, I can’t go back home,
Without a whole lotto thinkin’ ‘bout you.

No, I can’t go back home,
Without a whole lotto thinkin’ ‘bout you.
A whole lotto thinkin’ ‘bout you, Baby,
A whole lotto thinkin’ ‘bout you, Baby,
A whole lotto thinkin’…
