FIRST VERSE
Though it's true when I flew across the ocean
My mind at the time was on a different devotion
But it didn't take long
Before this place became my home
I'll tell you why
FIRST CHORUS
Well it ain't the trucks, or the huntin' and the fishin'
That make this country the one I want to live in
It's the can-do attitude and fundamental freedoms
That make this nation the one that I believe in
Well I came to this country for love, now I love this country
SECOND VERSE
At the start my heart was set on a woman
But when I touched down I found this place all-consumin'
From affection to love
The U.S. soon fit me like a glove
Here's the reason why
SECOND CHORUS
Well it surely isn't Disneyland, or rap or country music,
They don't play a part in the reasons why I choose it
Instead it's Lady Liberty and her shining beacon
We the people make this country great, not the politicians
Oh I came to this country for love, now I love this country
GUITAR SOLO VERSE
THIRD CHORUS
Well it ain't the fast food, and neither is it NASCAR
It surely isn't Hollywood, or the Fender guitars
(music stops)
Well maybe a little bit Fender guitars
(music starts)
It's the mix of the people, and stellar Constitution
That makes this country the one that I am choosin'
Oh I came to this country for love, now I love this country
Oh I came to this country for love, now I love this country
