I sure wasn't sober, love
but that wasn't a shoulder hug
I thought you were older, dove
We flew like a boulder, hun
We fell for that sugar rush
And I sure wasn't sober love
I gave you that mental fuck
You kissed like you'd be in touch
I just wanted that sober love
But you sure weren’t sober, love
We drank for the golden cup
You didn't think I was bad enough
You left like you had enough
Call it some Summer love
Love like a diamond cut
Future would be bad as fuck
If you and me were us
I just wanted that sober love
But I sure wasn’t sober, love
And you don’t call me back as much
And when you see me you kinda blush
I just take it as Irish luck
And maybe I blew it up
Said the wrong thing too much
I just wanted that truthful stuff
Like I want to know you and stuff..
I just wanted that sober love
And maybe I blew it up
But baby I had the guts
I just thought that you knew me but
I think I scared you way too much
I just wanted that sober love

Hey, Joey! Thanks for sharing. Cool title. I dig how you use “sober love” multiple ways. Allows you to repeat the title while also keeping it fresh. I like that it moves with some groove and tempo. Also, “we flew like a boulder” is a killer line. There’s some really cool stuff in here. No big hooky chorus, so I don’t know how it would do on radio, but I like it. Nice job- good song!
