I have read and heard many accounts of a strong attachment between a dog and a veteran or a person serving on active military duty. I have developed that attachment with my son's dog, Aspen.

This is a light-hearted country song. In many country songs the guy is looking to hookup with a woman and have a Good Time. In this song, a woman has gone to a club looking to hookup with a guy. She meets him and gets what she is looking for.

The guy wants to go out and have a Good Time listening to and dancing to country music. The woman at first is not interested. He tries to persuade her by talking about the Good Time they will have and also by some flattery, e.g., "When we walk through the door ‘bout quarter to nine,

Once a month, an older man goes to his usual bar or club, has his usual drinks, and listens to his favorite music, i.e., country music. He thinks back to times in his past that, though not necessarily all good, were better than other times.
