Musings on the feeling that everyone is growing up around you and you just don't seem to fit the "normal grown-up" life that everyone else has. This is a one-take work tape with just guitar and vocals. Planning full production for the song soon.
Sloppy guitar playing and imperfect vocals aside - this is a laid back, introspective and very honest song and I would love to know what y'all think. Anything I can do to make it better? Do you think it would connect with anyone else?
Thanks Amber! I appreciate your kind words about the lyrics. I’ve had this one on the shelf for awhile and I need to revisit the musical component for sure. I realize the arrangement and my performance of it are not doing anything for the song.
The funny thing about this one is I actually wrote all of the lyrics to the melody of another song that happened to be stuck in my head at the time and then tried to go back and change it. I am not real happy with the result and will definitely be coming back to it at some point.
Thanks again for your feedback!

Verse 1:
Sometimes I think there's something wrong
Like a switch somewhere never got turned on
I don't chase what I'm supposed to want
What it seems everyone has got
A family with some little ones
A steady job that pays just enough
A place to rest when the day is done
A hand to hold, watch the setting sun
Chorus:
You may think that I don't care
That I don't want a life to share
And it don't hurt when the day is done
When I lay down without someone
Verse 2:
I'm a dreamer lost in my own head
With a constant eye to what I ain't done yet
Always worried where the road might end
Can't settle down and let life begin
Well I'm not saying I don't believe in love
It's just hard to feel when you think so much
Get hung up on everything that's wrong
A lonely blue verse in a sunny pop song
Chorus
Break
Verse 3/End:
Sometimes I think there's something wrong
Like a switch somewhere never got turned on
Everywhere I go, I don't belong
A blue verse in a sunny song
Sometimes I think there's something wrong

This will connect with people, I have a lot of friends who have not yet been married and feel this way. I know you mentioned the guitar but the intro for some reason felt like the end of a song. This would draw those feeling in more I feel if you picked up the tempo and strummed the chorus. The tempo even for a laid back song felt a little too laid back. I really like the second paragraph in the second verse, really creative lyrics fun!
