About This Song

Sometimes it takes a long time to get there...but eventually we all find our own awakening.

Beautiful song. I love your phrasing: “anymore”/“before”. “by hell”/“the spell” - very cool.
I think you have underused the chorus. I would like to hear it more. Besides, it is most unusual to have a pre chorus that is not followed by a chorus. I really wonder if your 2 pre choruses are actually chorus 1 and chorus 2 and what you call a chorus is actually a bridge.

Regardless of the semantics, this is a really neat song.

Thank you, Dick! I know how the labeling of my song structure is confusing.  That was a subject we went over at the Java meeting I went to and unfortunately you weren’t there. One writer there made a commit about the part you mentioned. The part you said you would like to hear more of. He said he liked that part but it seemed to take a long time to get there and I thought to myself… “EXACTLY!” That’s what I wrote the song about but also wanted the song to feel like that to the listener as well! I couldn’t have been more pleased! Thank you for listening! Im so happy you enjoyed it!
I hope to catch you at another meeting soon!

Funny how a song can catch you right in that moment where you relate so much. smile

The song went on a bit too long for my taste, but I really like images of “awakening” that the lyrics paint.

V1- What can the sharp words cut
when its still and quiet?
Reputation, stained, but so what
God knows the truth

V2- Business left undone
does’t seem to matter, anymore
You’re in a better state
than you’ve ever been, before

PreC- You begin to realize
more and more as you live life
that every time you let light teach
then your heart, truly starts to beat

V2- Shattered dreams and tattered soul
you were shaken , by hell
Someone came and pulled you out
Woke you up from ,the spell

PreC- Here you are to make it right
by showing what love should look like
A result of what forgiveness breeds
is when your voice truly starts to speak

Break - Aahaahaah…

C- Now your eyes truly see
and your lungs finally breath
legs are straightening

Feel your soul flying free
as your mind, is slowly-a-wakening
A-wak-ening
A-a-a-waken-ing

V3 Washing away ugliness that was within you
you know you still have work that you continue
Life gets dark,
refrain from mistakes that you were making
You have overcome the war inside
Now you are truly awakening
