I wanted to explore 5th and 7th chords so this is what I came up with. In this case I wrote the music first and then came with the lyrics.
Do you think songs like this work at all in a world that drives for fast paced uptempo chorus driven tunes.
I love the melody and the chord changes - kinda has a Norah Jones feel to it. Regarding your question about a world focused on up-tempo chorus driven songs - I think there is plenty of space for music that doesn’t fit that mold and plenty of people that want to hear something different. Whether or not it would be played on any “Top 40” radio stations I don’t know but I say write what you want to write and make music that moves you - chances are it will move someone else too.

Hi Mikalyn, just had a listen and I think this song is very nice, relaxing…along with your pretty voice. I agree with Sean, write from your heart and there is always a place for songs like this.

Verse 1
You know you’ve tried so hard
But still it doesn’t seem to be right
I can see you need a break
But you think you’re short on time
You should know I never left
And can always take my turn
Slide over and let me work
And brighten your cloudy day
Chorus
Just take
the time that you need
To reload
Rest assured
There’s no rush
I’ve got your back
Verse 2
Go to New York
A beach be Free
Do what you want finally
And when you return
You will see
It’s possible to be happy
Bridge
You can lighten your load by leaning onto me
You can lighten up your load open up to me
Chorus
Just take
the time that you need
To reload
Rest assured
There’s no rush
I’ve got your back

Nice tune. I like the simple, clear arrangement. Some nice chord changes, too.
