Get Back On
© 2014 Sarah Motes Ashley
Verse 1
Teardrops falling on my phone
Kleenex piling up like snow
Mama aint got time for that
no
I shoulda left that guy alone
I forgot how to say "no"
I was a puddle on the bed
Mama shook her head
Chorus
Dry your tears, dye your roots
Put on your big girl boots
Love's a bumpy ride
Get back on
Get up off your behind
Check out who's next in line
Get back on, Get back, get back on
Verse 2
My parents* fixed me up with Tommy Wade
he's clearly not my type
He wore a tie in seventh grade
and that ain't right
It's some kind of shotgun date
so awkward I could die
I told Tommy I was sick
They said "get over it"
Chorus
Bridge
Then a long haired dirt road daydream came around
They said no, he’s from the shady side of town
But when tall dark and delicious
Parked his Harley on our lawn
I always do what Mama says
So I got on, I got on

Sarah,
Even though you are listed as “pop”, I think I see a lot of the Nashville songwriting influence in your songs. Your song structure, support of the hook, the turn around in the bridge - all that is Nashvillish. Maybe I’m wrong, but it doesn’t matter, you write good stuff.
