I wrote this tune after a trip to the Bahamas. I kind of modeled it after a Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown or Jimmy Buffet song.
I always appreciate feedback on my songs. The good, the bad or the ugly, I love them all.

If you listen to a Kenny Chesney song backwards
All your problems return and you’re putting your shirt and your shoes back on
And you’re never gonna dip your toes in the clear blue water
If you keep turning off all those Zac Brown songs
Don’t know much about geography
But one thing those guys taught me
You gotta step into that Island water
There’s nothing that water can’t cure
Once you step into that island water
You’re not gonna hurt anymore
Where the tide’s gently swaying and the sand is warm and soft
All your pain will be floating away
And all your worries drift off
Well you don’t need to bring a cooler with cold Coronas
Just a little dab of Coppertone to rub on your skin
And you don’t need a preacher and a choir singing hallelujah
Just wade out into the water and dunk yourself right in
Don’t know much about geography
Magic happens where the sand meets the sea
You gotta step into that Island water
There’s nothing that water can’t cure
Once you step into that island water
You’re not gonna hurt anymore
Where the tide’s gently swaying and the sand is warm and soft
All your pain will be floating away
And all your worries drift off
All your worries drift off
Just pack a suitcase with your heartaches and tough breaks
And bring ‘em down here
You’ll be under the sunshine watching the bad times disappear
You gotta step into that Island water
There’s nothing that water can’t cure
Once you step into that island water
You’re not gonna hurt anymore
Where the tide’s gently swaying and the sand is warm and soft
All your pain will be floating away
And all your worries drift off
All your worries drift off

Nice melody. To improve this song I would start by changing the lines of the lyrics that mention certain artists. Just because people (like me) might not know Zach Brown or Kenny Chesney. So instead of “If you listen to a Kenny Chesney song backwards” maybe change to “a country music tune backwards”. Just a thought. If I said an Alice Cooper song, some kids born in 2005 might think I’m talking about a female.
Then there is the thing about the water… you say it’s a cure.. but how so? do you drink it? If you’re talking about taking a break from everyday life and enjoying the island water off the Bahamas, for example, maybe consider describing things for the listener “the Bahama water is warm like a bath, I forgot my troubles and just relaxed”or “even the sea breeze slowed me down and made my toughest problems feel small”. In other words, explain how the water “cures” things but not like taking medicine. Hopefully this helps you.
