About This Song

The original tinder box idea came about from a Wordplay Thursday word “difference.” A song about how there’s always women who want a “bad boy”, but would never be able to handle one or be happy with one. It’s written from his point of view. Yet, could easily be a simple incompatibility song.

But ya know De, this one’s got a real folk-stomp/Childers/Bingham vibe that I love too. I’m really thrilled to see how this turned-out. Either version way cool! Again, super title and concept you had here. You know I love those titles!- HA…....and syllables…;-))

Tinder Box (male v.)

Written by DeeDee Beeler

There’s a difference in your kind,
of four roses and mine.
Yours are pretty ‘n sweet,
mine a sippin’ stingin’ thorny type.

There’s a sayin’ that opposites,
tend to attract just fine.
But fire and water yield to the stronger,
only harmonic on steamy nights.

You’re driven to love that lasts,
like a stunned moth intrigued by flames.
But not knowin’ the heat and burns to come,
make that fantasy reality’s pain!

So don’t try ‘n light it up,
just ‘cause ya wanna be with me.
I’m a blowin’ north wind,
you’re a fireball whisky.
We strike a volatile spark in the dark,
where flickers grow out of control.
You’re just a tinder box.
So when I snuff it out
just walk away don’t kiss me.
I’m like flint skipped stone,
heat’s touch shatters quickly.
We don’t need an open case of charcoal
where nothin’ and love never grow.
You’re just a tinder box Babe,
I’d only need you when I’m cold.
When I’m cold!

Ya wanna strike like a Diamond match,
nothin’ but a disaster forecast.
Ya wanna ignite in a passion’s flash.
Nothin’ burnin’ down quite like that.
‘Cause men like me, know men like me,
and ladies like you ain’t ever gonna’ see.
‘Cause men like me, know men like me,
stomp a cigarette out like your inferno dreams.

So don’t try ‘n light it up,
just ‘cause ya wanna be with me.
I’m a blowin’ north wind,
you’re a fireball whisky.
We strike a volatile spark in the dark,
where flickers grow out of control.
You’re just a tinder box.
So when I snuff it out
just walk away don’t kiss me.
I’m like flint skipped stone,
heat’s touch shatters quickly.
We don’t need an open case of charcoal
where nothin’ and love never grow.
You’re just a tinder box Babe,
I’d only need you when I’m cold.

When I’m cold!

When I’m cold!

We don’t need an open case of charcoal
Where nothin’ and love never grow.
You’re just a tinder box, babe.
I’d only need you when I’m cold.
