A heartbreaker song with a pop vibe.

First off THANK you for the comment:)
It totally could. I joined here to try and get my lyrics out there. I write everything and the just use AI as a demo to get it heard. My dream is to get Artist to hear it and want to make it their own interpretation with their singing and music. I ♥️ that you can already hear it going in an upbeat direction

This is a really strong emotional write. The opening line, “I forget to take deep breaths ‘cause I’m always taking deep dives,” immediately pulled me in and set up the theme of obsession, anxiety, and searching for answers after betrayal.
What stood out most to me was the honesty. The lyric captures that painful place where you’re digging for the truth, knowing every answer might hurt more than the last. That’s a feeling a lot of listeners will connect with.
My only suggestion would be to trust some of your strongest lines a little more, multiple metaphors seem to compete for attention. I only mention that as I struggle with that at times myself. ![]()

I forget to take deep breaths
‘Cause I’m always taking deep dives
Playing over the what-ifs
Trying to read between your lines
Was there part of you that was real?
Which part was the disguise?
Oh what a twisted game
Following the yellow brick truth or lies
And I became a sleuth for the truth
Yeah, you made me that way
Searching for the root
Of every little thing you wouldn’t say
Digging through the pieces
Following your little trail of Reeses,
Sometimes you find what you’re looking for
And wish you never knew
‘Cause the truth can break you,
Long before it sets you free
I forgot to take deep breaths
‘Cause I was taking deep dives
Trying to solve the mystery
Of betrayal in a set of loving eyes.
And I found the dagger in the sheath
Yeah there was something underneath
But it’s just disgust,
‘Cause I loved the robber of my trust
Your secrets hidden by design
It cut deeper
Knowing what I knew
The seeds I we planted
Were just crystallized sugar to you
And you thought it worth the gamble
Of turning me into a shamble
While the best of you
Was squirreled away
Holding out for your rainy day
While I stood there broken in every way
And baby that’s the cruelest side
Cause somewhere in your eyes
I wasn’t worthy of the truth you hide
And you were watching me drown slowly there
While pretending that you care
Sometimes you find what you’re looking for
And wish you never knew
‘Cause the truth can break you,
Long before it sets you free
I forgot to take deep breaths
‘Cause I was taking deep dives
Trying to solve the mystery
Of betrayal in a set of loving eyes.

I like this. …the robber of my trust…good lyrics!
Have you tried making the chorus more upbeat? I’m curious if it would sound better.
