One peaceful afternoon when I wasn't feeling great, I sat alone at the end of Megansett Pier. I was reminded how lucky I was to live in such a beautiful place and and how all my troubles go away when I get over the bridge and closer to the water. It was then and there that I laid all my burdens down.

Bare feet in the morning sand
I breathe it in, now I understand
The world goes quiet, time slows down
This is where I lay my burdens down
Here’s where the harbor breeze whispers low
Past the seagrass where the hermit crabs go
The weight I’ve carried fades somehow
And peace is finally mine right now
The tide rolls in to greet the shore
Washing away what came before
Cleveland Ledge stands tall and proud
Greeting those returning to the Cove
Here’s where the harbor breeze whispers low
Through the bends where the sailboats go
The weight I’ve carried fades somehow
And I can breathe a little easier now
Reflections dance on kettle ponds
Like memories I can’t out run
But something in this moonlight
Tells me I’ll sleep good tonight
Here’s where the harbor breeze whispers low
Through the pines where we watch the starlight show
The weight I’ve carried fades somehow
This is where I lay my burdens down
No city lights, no crowded streets
Just blue skies and a sandy beach
With waves that sing a sailor’s sound
This is where I lay my burdens down
Here’s where the Cape tide ebbs and flows
Next to cranberry bogs and beneath the sunset glow
The life I’ve lived drifts out to sea
And everything I need comes back to me
Yeah, on Megansett Pier… I lay my burdens down
