About This Song

This story comes from a personal situation that everyone has to deal with at some point.

Feedback Requested

I originally had a POP version of this song (I Gained An Angel), but this is a re-write after some coaching to bring it into the country genre.
Any feedback and critiques are appreciated as I want to make sure, I am catching mistakes that I may not hear.

[VERSE 1]
I often wonder if the hardest part was knowing you were leaving,
Or when the time came, I had to let you go.
I never once heard you complain, you hid the fear and all the pain,
Your only worry was me being here alone.

[VERSE 2]
When I close my eyes,
I feel you by my side,
Another moment with you,
It’s just a different view.

[Chorus]
Now we can’t touch and alone I cry,
I pick fresh roses to sit there by; your picture on the mantle, as I sing our favorite song...
It's just a matter of time; before I’m back with you, it won’t be long...
And I know you're always watching over me,
I gained an Angel, ...
When you gained your wings.

[BRIDGE] [LIFT IN MUSIC AND VOCALS]
As I gaze at the leaves, dancing in the trees,
I can hear your voice whisper through the breeze,
I smell the rain; it will soon replace,
Feeling the warmth of the sun on my face.

[REPEAT Chorus]

[OUTRO]
Now WE CAN'T TOUCH!
But, I know you're always watching over me,
I gained and Angel, ...
When you gained your wings.
