I started writing lyrics and melodies a little over a year ago, and this was my very first one. This is still a scratch vocal, but I like its raw, imperfect feeling. I'm not sure if I'll do anything else with it.

It Was Real
Lyrics by Jenn Katusha
Music by Jeff Oxford
Verse 1
I shouldn’t be looking back
It’s the last thing I should do
But this morning I hit rock bottom
And started thinking about you
Verse 2
They say that I should have fire in my eyes
And the blood running through me should boil
What good would that do? I’d still think of you
I’d rather keep our memories fresh, not spoiled
Even though the ending was a mess
It’s up to me how I handle the rest
Chorus
I choose what to remember
I choose what to forget
There were tears and there were smiles
Satisfaction and regrets
It still counts, that’s how I feel
We still mattered, it was real
Verse 3
I could scream damn you, how could you?
And call you all sorts of nasty names
Stay angry for the rest of my life,
Play all kinds of childish games
Somewhere in time all we had is safe and sound
Now there’s no need to burn it all to the ground
Even though the ending was a mess
It’s up to me how I handle the rest
Chorus
I choose what to remember
I choose what to forget
There were tears and there were smiles
Satisfaction and regrets
It still counts, that’s how I feel
We still mattered, it was real
Chorus
I choose what to remember
I choose what to forget
There were tears and there were smiles
Satisfaction and regrets
It still counts, that’s how I feel
We still mattered, it was real
