This song is a fanciful take on the old expression, "Don't let the door hit you on your way out" (or some version of such). That of course is usually uttered when you want someone to leave. I thought I'd use the expression, "Don't let my lips hit you on your way out" as a way of saying that you hope to make someone else want to stay.

You’ve got that “rather be anywhere else”
Look in your eyes tonight
Got a fear that you’re missing out
Or maybe there’s somebody new on your mind
But if you’re dead set on leaving
I won’t waste no more of your time
But don’t let my lips hit you on your way out
You might not be reaching the door
And don’t let my arms try holding you back
They might keep you beggin’ for more
There’s nothing but air between you and out there
Aint no tricks up my sleeve
But don’t let my lips hit you
They might make it harder to leave
If we’re down at the bar Friday night
Some young thing catches your eye
Slow dance as late as you want to
Cause you know that I’m not the jealous kind
But if you start believing
Her kiss could be sweeter than mine
Don’t let my lips hit you on your way out
You might not be reaching the door
And don’t let my arms try holding you back
They might keep you beggin’ for more
There’s nothing but air between you and out there
Aint no tricks up my sleeve
But don’t let my lips hit you
They might make it harder to leave
Harder to leave
I won’t pretend my world’s gonna end if you walk away
I won’t break down and tell you “I love you” just to get you to stay
