You’ve got a great Ricky Skaggs sound! smile This is a good toe-tapper… I’d like to hear this line “But I hope I never have to write a song about you.” revised to “but I hope I never write a song about you”... that’s was the only thing that bugged me.  Great job!

Absolutely LOVE the way this is produced! Such a great sound. The premise is great, and the lyrics, particularly in the verses, are really simple, but wonderfully clear at the same time. Kudos on avoiding all the cliches smile

I agree with Tonya that the title line is a little rushed, but maybe instead of changing the lyrics you can just change the timing?

This is going to be stuck in my head for a while!

I’ll Write A Song...

Written by Dave Undis

I’ll Write A Song About You
by Dave Undis and Fred Butch Burns

CHORUS
I'll write a song about you when you're gone.
I'll do it the very first day after you've moved on.
Whenever a love is over that's what I do.
But I hope I never have to write a song about you.

VERSE
Will it be a song about the sorrow and the pain?
About having to fall in love all over again?
About how I was so sure you were the one?
I'll write a song about you when we're done.

CHORUS
I'll write a song about you when you're gone.
I'll do it the very first day after you've moved on.
Whenever a love is over that's what I do.
But I hope I never have to write a song about you.

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

CHORUS
I'll write a song about you when we're through.
Most likely from a sad and lonely point of view.
Whenever a love is over that's what I do.
I hope I never have to write a song about you.

VERSE
Will it be a song about cursing the stars above?
About just how much I miss being in love?
About how much you loved me and I loved you?
I'll write a song about you when we're through.

CHORUS
I'll write a song about you when you're gone.
I'll do it the very first day after you've moved on.
Whenever a love is over that's what I do.
But I hope I never have to write a song about you.
Whenever a love is over that's what I do.
But I hope I never have to write a song about you.
