A friend made a chance comment, wondering aloud if anyone missed her at church when she was traveling with her husband on frequent business trips. The song was made up from whole cloth but sort of written as an answer to her question.

(verse)
When you woke up this morning, did’ya ever think I’d call?
I haven’t talked you since sometime late last fall
So, I picked up the phone and thought I’d clear the air
Or at least I’d let you know I’m still alive somewhere
(chorus)
If you wondering if I miss you, yes, I do
Have I been drinking? Yeah, I’ve had a few
What’s it gonna take? Sometimes I wish I knew
I don’t think there’s any getting over you
(verse)
I flew down to the Caribbean for a week
I tried everything they make with rum on Martinique
Even kissed a younger woman but she called me a creep
I tried the medication – it just put me to sleep
(chorus)
If you wondering if I miss you, yes, I do
Have I had some lonely nights? Yes, I’ve had quite a few
What’s it gonna take? Sweetheart I wish I knew
I don’t think there’s any getting over you
(Instrumental break)
(bridge)
You’re still my obsession; but you’re over me
A match made in Heaven that was never meant to be
(verse)
Well, I go to church on Sundays and on Wednesday nights
Might’ve been a little hazy but I saw the Light
Now, I don’t cuss or smoke and I don’t paint the town
The only miracle I’ve seen, so far, is I’m still around
(chorus)
If you wondering if I miss you, I still do
Do I have some regrets? Yes, I have one or two
What’s it gonna take? Dear Lord I wish I knew
I don’t think there’s any getting over you
(tag)
No, I don’t think there’s any getting over you
No, I don’t think there’s any getting over you
