I'm fondly reflecting of my life going up on a farm

Backroad Homegrown Country
By Glen Hofbauer
I got holes in my work boots
and grease stain on my hands
From wrenching on the tractor
and livin’ off this land
I’ve got farm dirt in my bones
Creek water in my veins
Gonna get a tat across my back
God Bless the USA
Yea I got country on my mind
Where livin’s not so refined
I like movies when good guys win
And tomatoes on the vine
You can plant me in the city
And I’ll get by just fine
But I’ll have backroad, homegrown, country on my mind
I like rootin’ for the home team
on a Fri night
I like county fairs and rockin’ chairs
and a bonfire burnin’ bright
I like back strap my trucker hat
and playin’ in the dirt
I wear worn out jeans with tattered seams
And faded John Deere shirt
Yea I got country on my mind
Where livin’s not so refined
I like movies when good guys win
And tomatoes on the vine
You can plant me in the city
And I’ll get by just fine
But I’ll have backroad, homegrown, country on my mind
I like outlaw’s and chainsaw’s
Ice-tea in the afternoon
I like far off trains and summer rain
And a big ol’ harvest moon
I like porch sittin’, guitar pickin’
Coyotes howlin’ at the moon
I like corn fields and big wheels
And a backyard BBQ
Yea I got country on my mind
Where livin’s not so refined
I like movies when the good guys win
And tomatoes on the vine
You can plant me in the city
And I’ll get by just fine
But I’ll have backroad, homegrown, country on my mind
Yea I’ll have backroad, homegrown, country on my mind
