About This Song

The song was inspired by my son and his dog Buddy, who he had adopted, became a member of his growing family, but ultimately had to put down.

Though the song will be released on my next album (~Mar '23), I always welcome constructive criticism which I can employ down the road.

Buddy and Me
By Glen Hofbauer

I was rather tired of livin’ alone
So went to the rescue to bring a friend home
I walked by the cages at the end of the que
He barked with tail a waggin’ and both of us knew

Best friends for life, we both agreed
Love at first sight, Buddy and me

No pedigree like me just a mutt
When I opened up the door he jumped right in my truck
Said I think I’ll call you Buddy he looked at me like “how’d you know?”
Before we made it home he was sleepin’ on my coat

Best friends for life, we both agreed
Love at first sight, Buddy and me

We grew old together but his eyes were always bright
He was always ready to go for a ride
We’d drive down backroads with our windows down
I’m sure he thought he’s flyin’ 6’ off the ground

Best friends for life, we both agreed
Love at first sight, Buddy and me

I have no doubt there’s a heaven
Let me tell you how I know
Cause when dogs leave this earth
They need somewhere to go

Best friends for life, we both agreed
Love at first sight, Buddy and me
