Great song Mr. Sheldon.  Definitely an excellent concept and very well written.  My only criticism would be the lack of rhyme of “slow” and “old” in the chorus.  To my ears it feels like there should be a rhyme there.  But this is surely one of the best songs I’ve heard here in a long time.  Best of luck.

One other thing…I just noticed the rhyming scheme is different in verse 2 than verse 1.  In the first verse lines 4 and 5 rhyme, and in the second verse it looks like lines 3 and 5 rhyme.  Just something I noticed.

Hi Valentine, Really nice song! Great groove with an easy to sing melody. In my humble opinion I wished the lyrics of the chorus would say THEY ain’t got nothing on you, instead of NEW ain’t got nothing on you because it’s kind of a tongue twister of sorts. Looking forward to listening to more of your songs!

VERSE
I love the smell of a brand new truck
The joyride test drive, that buyer’s rush
I love cruising through the boat show
Wide-eyed and rubber necking
It’s like I died and went to Heaven

CHORUS
But new ain’t got nothin’ on you
You’re a classic song my heart beats to
And when I hold you tight and you kiss me slow
We feel just right, we never get old
There’s no higher high girl, it’s true
New ain’t got nothin’ on you

VERSE
I love listen’ to the hot country hits
When a fresh cold beer touches my lips
I’ll drive a hundred miles or more
For tricked out camo hunting gear
Or the latest greatest buzz bait lure

[CHORUS]

BRIDGE
Every shinning star eventually fades
But our love grows brighter every single day

CHORUS
New ain’t got nothin’ on you
You’re a classic song my heart beats to
And when I hold you tight and you kiss me slow
We feel just right, we never get old
There’s no higher high girl, it’s true
New ain’t got nothin’ on you

OUTRO
Nothin’ can touch my beautiful girl
New ain’t got nothin’ on you
