I was inspired to write this song about my granddaughter, who had just turned 8. When she smiles at me, I simply melt. It doesn't matter what obstacle I'm facing or my level of stress, when I look at her (or her picture) and see that smile, my perspective instantly looks better.

1ST VERSE:
Reaching,
Trying to hit the snooze,
Thinking,
I’ll never drink a drop of booze again.
2nd VERSE:
If I can just make it to the shower,
In an hour,
I’ll be at work and then.
BUILD:
I try to clear my head,
With cups of black caffeine,
And find reason,
For this old routine.
CHORUS:
But every time I see Anna smile,
I’m in a place I want to stay awhile,
I don’t worry ‘bout interest rates,
Or how much
my old truck drinks per mile.
And every time I see her face,
Worries can’t compete,
They fade away,
This always happens to me,
Whenever I see her smile.
3RD VERSE:
In a crowd,
She picks me out,
She runs to me, makes me proud,
She owns my heart.
4th VERSE:
The only downside of me and her,
Is leaving her,
Whenever we part.
BUILD:
Her pictures frame my walls,
At home and work
And only every moment,
I think of her.
CHORUS:
And every time I see Anna smile,
I’m in a place I want to stay awhile,
I don’t worry ‘bout interest rates,
Or how much
my old truck drinks per mile.
Every time I see her face,
My worries can’t compete,
They fade away,
This always happens to me,
Whenever I see her smile.
TAG:
This always happens to me,
Whenever I see,
Anna smile.
