I wrote this song when my older brother, Steve was going through cancer. We were remembering our childhood and playing pick-up baseball game.

When It Was A Game
Verse
Every summer morning we'd ride our bikes out to the field
One by one our friends would come, it still seems so real
Played the game for hours,'til we knocked the cover off the ball
Up until September, that's what I recall
Verse
I tried to pitch like Koufax, Robbie thought he was Babe Ruth
He could hit some long ones, wasn't that far from the truth
When Steve stole a base he'd say Maury Wills is my name
I can still remember when it was a game
Chorus
Oh, when it was a game we didn't make a million bucks
We all played the game for fun, we were baseball nuts
Trying to catch a fly ball like old Willie Mays
Oh, I can still remember when it was a game
Verse
My friends have all grown up now, we watch the games on TV
Some complain it's not the same with free agency
When a batter hits the ball and you know he got the range
Oh I can still remember when it was a game
Chorus
Bridge
Well, I know that things are different, don't know when they changed
I can still remember when it was a game
Chorus
