Do we need a bridge? We wrote one and then deciding to turf it.

Another really good song here Doug. When I’m singing along in the chorus I can’t help replacing ‘turn back the pages’ to “nothin’s gonna phase us.”  Not saying it’s better- it’s just more natural to me and supports the take us/hiatus rhyme more closely (on maybe just the last chorus?).  And yes, I think a short 2 line descriptive bridge to the last chorus would be cool.  Great work as always!

Thanks for the feedback Holden.  I think we’ll definitely take another crack at a bridge.  I appreciate your input and suggestion on the “pages line”.  Good call

Hey Doug, really enjoyed the song. I thought your lyrics were great. I didn’t mind Holden’s suggestion but I also liked your original lyrics for “pages”. I thought the music and the lyrics created a nice little vibe. Great work!

Hiatus

Doug Folkins | Justin Love | Troy Castellano | 02152021

Pack up the van (2m7)
Let’s find some sand and some blue sky (1)
Turn off the phones (2m7)
Hit the open road for some good times (1)

South Carolina (5/7 6m)
Yeah we’re gonna (5)
Get away (2)

(For) A little hiatus(4)
Why don’t we find us (1)
Some of that get gone (5)
From the world don’t (5)
That sound alright (2m7)
Hit that old reset (4)
‘Cause we need a recess (1)
(from that) Same old same, day to day (5)
Going by so fast (2)
Turn back the pages (4)
So we’re gonna take us (5)
A little hiatus (1)

Let’s lay back and unwind
Flip the welcome sign to “be-back-soon”
No we don’t gotta leave
Til we get what we need, that’s what we're doin’

Yeah, ain’t nothing to it
