About This Song

This song is about loosing a loved one that you have done so much with. I lost my best friend 5 years ago and he was only 33, I used to pick him up every morning to go to work. Then it hit me one day as I was driving to work, out of the corner of my eye he was there with me and it was an empty front seat without him.

Empty Front Seat

Written by Roger Fournier

EMPTY FRONT SEAT
Verse I –Intro Capo II G,D,A X 4
G,Bm,A,G,D,A
There’s not a county line road in this small town, my buddy and me didn’t cruise on down in my old truck, man we used to light’em up.
Now every street sign there’s a memory, we were right here living teen age dreams, when headlights struck, Man it tore me up
Chorus D,D,Bm,G x2 into D/A
I wish he was still here with me, riding shotgun in this front seat, we’d cruise around these same old streets
I wish he could go for one more ride, I never got a chance to say goodbye, I’d tell him a whole lot more than rest in peace, in this empty front seat
Verse II
I still burn down these old backroads, it’s how I cope with letting go, in this piece of rust, Lord I don’t mean to cuss
I still stop by that wooden sign, say a prayer every time, in God we trust, leaving tears in a cloud of dust
Chorus
Lead D,D,Bm,G
Bridge D,D,Bm,A,G
I hit the gas and start to cry, I punch the dash and ask God Why? Every time I go for a ride
Chorus
I wish he was with me, riding in this front seat, we’d cruise these same old streets-ooh ya
I wish he could go for one more ride, I never got a change to say good-bye, I’d tell him a whole lot more than rest in peace
I’d tell him what he means to me, I’d hug him, you better believe, I’d hold on to more than memories
Ya, I’d hold on to more than these memories, in this empty front seat
I wish he was with me, in this empty front seat, I’m holding on to his memories, in this empty front seat.
