About This Song

This song was written after I attended a celebration for an organization called One Eighty that serves the community through addiction recovery, and a million other ways to help people rise out of poverty.

Great lyrics and brooding music, James. I love the heartbeat in the background.

One Eighty

I was broken’s definition
Off the rails and on a mission
If there was trouble I would find it
My release was my affliction
Always chasing my addiction
Most days I just wouldn’t fight it

I thought I was too far gone to get clean
Jesus stepped into my world and set me free

When I was nothing but a lost cause running
He reached down to the bottom of the bottom
And saved me
He turned me one eighty
Now I may not know the way back home
But step by step he made a way and a promise
To lead me
He turned me one eighty
He’s the God of saving lives
I thank God he saved mine
He saved mine
He saved mine

Now the life I broke to pieces
Is in the hands of Jesus
And I know he can redeem it
His grace is more than able
To make me whole and I am thankful
That he found me there when he did

I thought I was too far gone to get clean
Jesus stepped into my world to set me free

When I was nothing but a lost cause running
He reached down to the bottom of the bottom
And saved me
He turned me one eighty
Now I may not know the way back home
But step by step he made a way and a promise
To lead me
He turned me one eighty
He’s the God of saving lives
I thank God he saved mine

Now I own the road that I chose to walk
But I know that I am defined by
Only one thing in my history
The moment that Jesus paid it all
And all my sin and shame
Was thrown into the sea

When I was nothing but a lost cause running
He reached down to the bottom of the bottom
And saved me
He turned me one eighty
Now I may not know the way back home
But step by step he made a way and a promise
To lead me
He turned me one eighty
He’s the God of saving lives
When he could have passed me by
He brought my dead heart back to life
I thank God he saved mine
He saved mine
