I placed 'Janice' under folk but it lends itself more to just a ballad of sorts. I find it hard to slot some songs in a particular genre. I wrote it for my best friend and about her battle with breast cancer. For anyone who is interested here is the link of a video I put together:

‘JANICE’
You’ll get by like Janis/
Cause Janice told me so/
Yesterday I felt her victory/
So eloquently sewn
And I can rub frankinsence/
in your scar like it ain't there/
and venerate you in shades of pink/
And put flowers in your hair.
CHORUS
AND YOU’LL GET BY LIKE JANICE
EVEN IF IT TAKES SOME TIME
YOU’LL GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE
AND THIS EVIL WE’LL DEFY
AND YOU’LL GET ON LIKE JANICE
EVEN IF IT TAKES SOME TIME
CAUSE I TELL YA I’VE SEEN JANICE
WITH MY VERY OWN EYES
Janice said to call her/
When your feeling down/
And she’ll tell you about everything she lost/
and everything she’s found/
And did I tell you how beautiful/
you looked the other day?
And how strong you seemed and so at ease/
and how much I have prayed
CHORUS
And did I tell you how beautiful/
You looked the other day/
And how strong you seemed and so at ease/
And how much I have prayed…
