About This Song

Pop-rock tune. think Sheryl Crow meets Sara Bareilles

Again, since this recording some lyrics have been added to be more powerful.

inspired by the Lumineers lyric "the opposite of Love is indifferent"

Sarah,

This won’t play. It’s acting like there is an empty file out there. Your other song plays just fine.

Sarah,

I really love this! Both of your songs, particularly the first one you posted, are very Sara Bareilles-y, so you were right on the money when you mentioned that in the description. The piano parts are great, particularly the bass part (which carries the song really well during that down chorus). It definitely gets stuck in your head! If you’re wanting to add in some other instruments, you could get an upright bass to do that lower piano part for sure. Maybe some drums, though that might change the feel and would make it seem much more upbeat.

It’s a little hard to understand some of the lyrics, but from what I can tell the verses are really well-written. “Overanalyze” in the first verse gives SUCH a huge payoff! Love that lyric there.

It took a couple of listens to understand what you meant by “it” in the second line in the chorus. Finally hit me that you meant you wished you could say you felt what he was feeling, too. Could just be me, but maybe consider tweaking that a little bit to make it clearer.

It’s a great song! Can’t wait to see what else you post!

Hi!
Could you post the lyrics of this song when you get a chance?
I realize it’s a demo recording but I had trouble understanding some of the lyrics so not sure I could render a valid opinion on them. The melody is loud and clear however and very catchy - I liked it a lot. I not as fond of the slowing-down speeding up of the arrangement - maybe it could start more spare and grow in intensity with each iteration of the chorus - maybe even with overdubbed harmonies on the later choruses - that might drive it forward a bit - but never the less it’s a good song!

Thanks Caryn & Don!! I appreciate the feedback!

Here are the lyrics: a few lines have been changed since this rough recording.

Verse 1:

I’ve been here a million times

I know how it goes

I don’t have much patience left

cause when I know, I know

and I try   try try
all the time

to find the heart that I don’t have inside.

Chorus:
I wish I could feel feel feel for you

I wish I could say I feel it too

trust me babe you’re not alone

I’m a 10 foot wall of stone

I wish I could feel feel feel for you

Verse 2:

I know love’s not black and white

it can take a while

but I can’t bring myself to lie

so good bye, goodbye
you’ll be fine
I’ll write you a love song and cross out half the lines.

Chorus:

I wish I could feel feel feel for you

I wish I could say I feel it too
em
trust me babe you’re not alone

I’ve got 10 foot walls of stone

I wish I could feel feel feel for you

Bridge:
nothing you can say will make me change my mind
Can’t put my finger on it, I can’t tell you why
I’m holding out for someone
I’m sorry you’re not right

Chorus

Compliment:

Melody is perfect.

Criticism:

Too much “feel” on chorus.
I want you to keep my attention with the lyrics.

Favorite line:

“When I know, I know.”

Hi Sarah-so sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.  I like some of the others, had trouble understanding the lyrics.  But as a piano player myself, I like the melody and the route the piano takes the song.  Good job and thank you for sharing!
