Hi Even your style always reminds me a little of Jason Isbell, especially your phrasing, which I think is very cool here. I think the title and idea to write a song about the teenage years interesting. You lost me a bit with with the lines “you seem to stay stuck in yesterday and every tear is from what you hear”  I have no idea what you’re saying. But all in all I like the song.

I like the title (intriguing as a “jumping-off point”)—but then it seems like the song stays in one place and doesn’t necessarily go anywhere—Agree with Frank about the “every tear was from what you hear” line—it seems to me that you might want to think about what’s happening with your song MUSICALLY—imho, musically it’s not necessarily “developing”—remember, this is just my take (and not necessarily the truth at all)—anyway, I did understand the appeal of writing a song about the “look back in life”—best of luck with all your songwriting endeavors!!!

Verse:
Every night you meet your friends at the spot
you rev your engines loud and then you roll into town
and right down the road from there is where you
met your very first love
seems like every day you fight with mom and dad
you just don’t know how to be so you leave feeling mad
you think you know it all
But you still prepare for the very next fall

Chorus:
Those Friday lights
those long hard nights
you wish you were something more to her
you seem to stay stuck in yesterday
and every tear is from what you hear
But,
you find yourself in the ups and downs
and you swear you’re in love now
When you live in Teen Town

In this town everybody rolls their eyes
can’t go a second without scrolling though the replies
it takes everything they have to look up and see the world go round
if you are known you have everything you need
and if you’re not you have little chance to be
its where you live, its the price tag on your car
that shapes the way they see you

Bridge:
One day you’ll leave for good
But won’t forget where you stood

Last Chorus:
In those Friday lights
Those long hard nights
You wish you were something more to her
When you seemed to stay stuck in yesterday
And every tear was from what you hear
But,
You found yourself in the ups and downs and met your true love now
When you lived in Teen Town
