About This Song

Wrote this last winter, idea came when getting ready for work on a super cold day, wasn't really looking forward to freezing my Cheeks off, but grateful to be working for a Concrete company that will allow me to work when its 8 degrees out.

The biggest thing that jumped out at me about your song is that your subject matter is tough, gritty and somewhat depressing, so I’m not sure about a “market” for your song (human nature being what it is)—second note: watch your vocal intonation (singing flat at times)—best of luck with your songs and your songwriting!

Slaves to those

Written by JJ Hanses

The fields are bare
The wind is blowing through the window pains
it is cold has hell today
I didn’t want to go
but I knew they’d be coming
The bills and tax’s are on the way
Oh I could stay at home
laying low in bed with you
But we’d regret come Friday
Chorus
The things we do to stay afloat
And keep our heads above the water, make us stronger and weaker in different ways, They keep us full and warm while slaves to those we pay

We could run and hide and
pray they never find us
But is it worth
the price we’d pay
It feels like sticking to grind
Is all that keeps us these days
But you can’t enjoy the money made
Chorus
So let the rain fall down
And wind flow through the window pains
I’ll go face another day
I hit the door and feel the rain sting my face...
