Hey Gregg, there’s SO much about this that I absolutely love!  I love the imagery you have in the first verses.  I think you paint such a fantastic picture that you actually don’t need to say the first line “A rough and rowdy child, I tried to fly”... you SHOW us that by what follows and I feel like that’s the most visual way to achieve it!  Great job!! I feel the same about your next segment:
“When I was seventeen, just livin’ the dream
Felt my whole world fall apart”... you could still say 17, but then show us what she did and let us in on those images that this character sees when looking back on how his heart got town apart.

I also feel like your later verse about the future could be written in a visual way too… like verse one.  You could use examples of what could come that shows future “beautiful scars” instead of telling us that you don’t know what’s going to happen,  I love that you end on “When all is said and done I hope folks say I was one
Of those beautiful scars”... as is, what scar ae you referring to here?  Why not paint the picture leading up to that awesome line?  I think that would take this song to the next level!!  Fantastic job!  I think this song is worth nailing!

Beautiful Scars

Written by Gregg Shively

A rough and rowdy child, I tried to fly
From that tree house in grandpa's yard
Made some cardboard wings with duct tape and string
I flew fast but not very far
Still think I deserved prize, 'cause nobody saw me cry
N' I got one beautiful scar ...

When I was seventeen, just livin' the dream
Felt my whole world fall apart
A high school Jezebel, she cast her spell
Tore a gaping hole in my heart
She cut me deep I guess but I didn't bleed to death
I got one beautiful scar ...

People and places and moments in time
With every turn of the cards
They come and go like shadows in the night
A few leave footprints in your heart
Oh, n' some leave beautiful scars ...

What's comin' down the road I just don't know
It's hard to see very far
One thing I can say, is come what may
I'll do my best to play my part
When all is said and done I hope folks say I was one
Of those beautiful scars ....

People and places and moments in time
With every turn of the cards
They come and go like shadows in the night
A few leave footprints in your heart
Oh, n' some leave beautiful scars
Beautiful scars ...
