My admiration for Roy Orbison was the catalyst for this song. I just wanted to write something that Roy might have liked and recorded.
Hi Marvin, great job! I LOVE the line
“Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight”. That’s a killer line! Very simple song and heartfelt.

Marvin, great feel to this and the song builds nicely around a simple idea. Nice work!

Marvin, once again, very solid lyrics. One thing that caught my attention—in the verses, you have two empty measures (no lyrics) in each line—I may be the only person that notices that, but (in a small way) it was a little offputting—and again, the rest of the world may feel perfectly comfortable with that—it just caught my attention a little bit. On the flip side, once again I marvel at how CONSISTENTLY you put out solid lyrics!!! I also liked “Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight” and “blind heart.”

I think it’s time, time to end this masquerade
Of pretending we’re okay
Waiting just deepens the pain
Putting off facing the shame
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
I can’t believe you let me learn from our friends
You’re not really over him
Making me look like a fool
Breaking my blind heart in two
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
Even if I’d known it all would end
I’d still love you all over again
Shame on me for loving you with my eyes closed so tight
Shame on you for letting me think everything’s alright
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
You should have told me, I should have seen
Shame on you, shame on me
