About This Song

This song is about a friend of someone who passed at an early age, later on he thinks about his friend and he is reflecting on his own life, being thankful that he's alive, as well as letting everyone know he may be gone but will always be remembered. This also is a remembrance of a war not forgotten and those left behind.

When I saw the your “Gone but Not Forgotten” title it triggered “Have You Forgotten” in my head by Darryl Worley. Especially with the war hero image of a burial.

Looking over your lyrics I can see this isn’t a war hero song. The POV of I makes it personal.

Just a suggestion: You could add a lot more information in there about that friend who passed away. Maybe change the POV to make it more universal with it’s message or create a lesson learned from that memory of your friend.

The tempo is a bit slow for me. It does have a nice relaxing feel to it though.

Thanks for sharing your song!

Happy Songwriting,
Ronnie

Gone but not forgotten

Written by Kevin Fox

I was talking to a friend of mine about a friend who'd passed away
See I never understood the reason why God took him that day

He never meant to hurt nobody, he never spoke an angry word
He gave us all the love he had his short time on this earth.

Gone but not forgotten , Oh gone but not forgotten

Well I rushed right home and I hugged my wife and kissed my little boys
then I got down on my knees and I prayed right to the Lord

I want to thank you for tomorrow I wanna thank you for today
If you could do me one small favor God and watch my friend along the way.

Gone but not forgotten' Oh' gone but not forgotten

I'll never understand why everything must end
Now maybe God he just needed a friend

Gone but not forgotten, Oh gone but not forgotten
Oh gone but not forgotten , Oh gone but not forgotten

I was talking to a friend of mine about a friend who passed away.
