Robert, man, you made my day with your positive reaction! I wrote this a few years ago for my band and we performed it regularly. I decided to have a pro demo made and I am pleased with it, as I always am with Panda. They are also creating a version for me that eliminates the old school rhythm guitar riff for something more contemporary. Thanks again! Chuck

Guys, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t get the “sister” connection. Don’t get me wrong, “sister of the girl next door” rolls off the tongue easily and sounds good, but from a lyric perspective, I don’t get it. Their not related, not sorority sisters, and not enough info to infer they grew up like sisters.
Maybe I’m over analyzing and it’s just words in a song, but if I’m missing something, please let me know what it is.

Chuck… now I am amazed that they will try a different rhythm guitar. Holy heck, I am sold on it in this version. But if you will, please re-post it with the new track added as I would love to compare if it is better or what they are thinking. I really look forward to it.

Hey, Charles! Thanks for sharing your song. I get the “sister” thing. She’s the good girl’s bad sister. Not a problem there.
However, the thing that I think is a commercial killer is when her sister’s date sneaks back by to pick up the singer. Uh-oh. This really makes the sister a back-stabber. You can’t go hooking up with your sister’s date- especially on the same night!
It’s one thing to make the singer the “bad girl.” That’s fine for certain artists. But you’ve gone too far into “bad person” in my opinion. The singer is just TOO… uh… friendly with all the fellas… to be very likable. Just too sexual.
I’d give her some other qualities. Yeah, she’s wild. Yeah, she drinks. She’ll dance all night. She’s a heck of a good time. But I’d soft sell the sex. I think it’ll get more commercial if you do.

I had an industry pro that was intrigued by this song but it was rejected by the artist he had in mind for the reason you mentioned. I was happy that the publisher liked it so for me the cup is half full. I wrote it in 2013 and at the time I wasn’t thinking in terms of being commercial or not. I do not intend to change this song but I do take artist’s image into consideration when I write now. Thanks, Chuck

Hi Charles. This really is a rickin song. I’m with Brent though on that one little bit of her cheating on her sister with the “current” boyfriend who has just had a lovely night with her. She’s a bit skanky and he’s a dog. Wouldn’t wanna be assoscoated with either of them.

Just revisited the song today… I wouldn’t change a thing just because some artist rejected it. Hey, the experts at Decca Records rejected the Beatles! If you would change the story and soften it up you would ruin it! I like songs like this with GUTS! I don’t listen (nor do most people) to the current garbage on the radio. It will change and they will start grabbing good stuff like this one again, or the country genre dies.

I love the catch phrase “I’m the sister of the girl next door”... my word, it got me laughing! And what an evil spin on the sister of in just a fun sexy way… and of life as it really is at times. This must be done with a girl with an attitude when on stage. THIS HAS TO BE TAKEN BY A MAJOR FEMALE ARTIST. It is a hit. Heck, even I like it! LOL
