(Indie/alternative/shoegaze)
This song is about how we are sometimes capable of killing all of the good things in our own lives, such as love and happiness. It's about coping with self-sabotaging loss.
Most recent song with new vocal style. Any constructive feedback would be awesome. I'd like to get my songwriting to a demo submission level.

So what if the rain falls
And so what if i'm drowning
But the light is dimming
And my hands are shaking
All our lives, turn to dust
All our smiles, turn to rust
We kill all the good things
Haunt me in my dreams
But I don't know what it means
Kill me in my sleep
So I can go quietly
So what if i'm hopeful
And so what if I'm lying
But the mask is slipping
And i'm close to falling
All our lives, turn to dust
All our smiles, turn to rust
We killed all the good things

Hey, Alec. I really dig the title and the line, “We kill all the good things.” Really intriguing and cool. I feel like, though, that it’s talking around the core subject of the song- and not talking directly to it / about it. Maybe it’s the country writer in me, but I’d like to hear more about what you mean by “we kill all the good things.” Is it how we (in a relationship) give trust and use it to cheat? Or how we take love and turn it into passion and control? Wine into alcoholism? Life into fear-of-death? I want to know what you have to say about it, but I don’t feel like I’m getting it. Hope that helps!
