Country/pop song about a woman who needs to give her boyfriend a little loving guidance. Words & Music by David Sanchez and Rick Leather.
Would appreciate any and all feedback, positive AND negative.
Yes, this is exactly the type of feedback I’m looking for. Thanks, Brent! I feel like I often get 90% there on my songs, which at least gives me hope that, if I keep at the craft, I am capable of eventually creating something that will get noticed. I know the bar is SO high. Again, thank you for your time!

Kiss Me There
Words and Music by David Sanchez (ASCAP) and Rick Leather (SOCAN)/Contact: davidsanchez@me.com
Verse 1
Now hold on, boy
Before you take your first shot
Did you really think I'd let you kiss me
In this Walmart parking lot?
It's gonna take a little bit o' romancin’
If you're tryin’ to win my heart
Honey, use some imagination
’Cuz this ain't no place to start
Chorus 1
Kiss me under the willow tree
On a blanket by the creek
Kiss me on a midnight moonlight drive
Up on Jackson's Peak
Kiss me ridin’ high on a Ferris Wheel
With the wind blowin' through my hair
If you really want this thing to go somewhere
Kiss me there
Verse 2
This ain't NASCAR boy
Take your foot off the gas
You’ll never cross the finish line
Trying to take these curves too fast
That mighta worked with those other girls
But let me make one thing real clear
I want a kiss that’ll rock my world
And that ain't gonna happen here
Chorus 2
Alt Lines: Kiss me in the dark, on a slow dance
Lost in a long lovin' stare
If you really want this thing to go somewhere
Kiss me there
Bridge
I don't want no Romeo
Cuttin' to the chase
Cuz, baby, if we just take it slow
That smile won’t ever leave your face
Chorus 3
Alt Lines: Kiss me on the beach by a big bon fire
Make the sparks fly through the air
If you really want this thing to go somewhere
If you wanna show this girl how much you care
Kiss me there

Hey, David! Good song, man. Simple, easy to follow, nice wink-wink on the title. Puts the singer in a good light and empowered. Tempo, positive. All good, commercial decisions. A lot of imagery- especially in the chorus. The Wal-Mart parking lot is a perfect non-romantic place.
I guess the only down-side for me is the overall feel of the song. Now, there’s nothing wrong with it. Nothing feels “off.” It’s just that- if you want to get this thing cut by a major artist- it feels a little dated or unsurprising. I want to hear something fresh or exciting in the melody or groove or production.
Right now, you have a really solid song. But I don’t know if it’s something that’s going to really stand out from the pack. But, like I said, there’s a whole lot of good stuff in there. You’re definitely a solid songwriter. Hope that helps!
