Snow At The Cabin
by Dave Undis and Fred “Butch” Burns
VERSE
We drove our family to the cabin, our place way deep in the woods.
A weekend full of relaxing would do our minds and bodies good.
Just when we all got settled, a big old blizzard hit.
It’s been snowing over a week now, and it ain’t slowed down a bit.
CHORUS
There’s snow at the cabin. All of us are stranded.
The wind is a blasting. The windows are rattling.
Our nerves are a frazzling. Boredom is attacking.
We need some distracting. There’s snow at the cabin.
VERSE
So Dad started picking his banjo, and Mom started plucking her bass.
Aunt Mae started sawing a fiddle, the baby banged on a plate.
Grandma grabbed the washboard, the dogs all howled along,
And the girls and I commenced to singing a sweet old mountain song.
CHORUS
There’s snow at the cabin. It’s a real happening.
Our toes are a tapping. Our hands are a clapping.
We’re joking. We’re laughing. We’re singing. We’re dancing.
Oh what fun we’re having. There’s snow at the cabin.
VERSE
Well just as the music got started, the sun decided to shine.
The snow it commenced to melting, the temperature began to rise.
We still have lots of firewood. The food ain’t running low.
We decided we like being stranded, and we ain’t going home.
CHORUS
There’s snow at the cabin. It’s a real happening.
Our toes are a tapping. Our hands are a clapping.
We’re joking. We’re laughing. We’re singing. We’re dancing.
Oh what fun we’re having. There’s snow at the cabin.
We’re singing. We’re dancing. Oh what fun we’re having.
We ain’t going nowhere. There’s snow at the cabin.
We ain’t going nowhere. There’s snow at the cabin.
