This song is about trying to escape a life that doesn't fit anymore, great love that sweeps you off your feet, the courage of leaving the past behind and the freedom that it brings you.
I would love to know what you think of the song overall but also how you think I could improve the storytelling, or the song structure etc.

It started with a guy in a bar
Like often around here
Tall dark and handsome
Just the way we like them
Hey how you doing
Not too bad and yourself
Then he turned around and
Said see you later
It started with a drink
At the end of my shift
He was known for trouble
That’s how he got his nickname
Oh I saw the warnings, yeah I saw it coming
But I wasn’t against a little adventure
Chorus:
It was the ride of our lives
Don’t think we’ve ever felt so alive
Pushing that mustang to the limit
I felt like it was meant to be
As free as we will ever be
Leaving it all behind with no regrets
Oh it started with a kiss
And a promise of forever
Us against the world
Stronger together
He was going nowhere
Without me he said
And I wasn’t against a little danger
It started with a cigarette
And a conversation
Hopes and dreams that we knew would never happen
If we stay right here
On this road to nowhere
Leaving sounded better than ever

I like this. It’s unique. It has a good sound. I even like your opening line being similar to the opening line of a joke or story.
I think your structure and content is fine; But it could be tightened up lyrically. Lines that stood out to me are the trouble and nickname and the no regrets. Can you find other ways to say those? Also, minor word changes can change a meaning. For example, in the first verse he says “See you later.” For some it means, he left and won’t be back. So it leaves the listener wondering if the next verse is another but different guy and situation because we don’t know where it’s going yet.
You’ve got a great start and with some editing and small changes, I think it can be even better.
