We've all had those nights on the town that led to being hungover the next day. Moments of clarity, mostly fogged over, but wondering what really happened. This song is about waking up in that state and trying to figure out if you really met the girl of your dreams, had the night of your life and... what next.
Thanks DeeDee. I truly appreciate the feedback. I have a niece that bears a resemblance to Taylor and we always comment how striking her lipstick choices are against her pale complexion. I will be working on some edits.

Verse 1
Neon buzzing like a Time Square sign
Last call ringing like a church bell chime
Saw you standing in a summer dress
Laughing like you knew all my regrets
Whiskey burning, but your touch was sweet
Boots kicked off in the passenger seat
You said, Baby, let the night run wild
Tryin’ to remember every second of your smile
Pre-Chorus
Now the sun’s sneaking through these blinds
And I’m sorting through what I think is real and what happened in my mind
Chorus
Hungover, were you just a dream
Or did you really dance that close to me
Was it bourbon talking in my mind
Or your cherry lips whispering my name
I swear I felt your heartbeat on my chest
But all that’s left is this pounding in my head
If you were real, girl, where did you go
Hungover… were you just a dream?
Verse 2
There’s glitter on my truck floor
Thoughts of a number I can’t recall anymore
Smudged red lipstick on a plastic cup
And a bar tab saying we closed it up
My buddies say I left with you
But they were three sheets gone too
Now I’m staring at this empty room
Trying not to lose the smell of your perfume
Pre-Chorus
Could you have been a midnight fantasy
Or were you the best thing that ever happened to me
Chorus
Hungover, were you just a dream
Or did you really mean that call me
Was it moonlight playing tricks on us
Or something more than whiskey and lust
I swear you fit right in these arms
Like it’s right where you belong
If you were real, girl, come back again
Hungover… were you just a dream
Bridge
So I’m heading back to that same bar stool
Hair of the dog and playing it cool
Bartender laughs, says Back so soon
If she walks in through that smoky haze
I’ll know it wasn’t just a drunken phase
I’m still hungover, but hoping to find you
hoping to see you walking back to me
hoping that reality comes in between
whiskey and a dream
Hungover and my head still hurts but my heart will heal if I find you here

Only my opinion:
Taylor Swift is one of the few women who can pull off red lipstick. Most of us choose more flattering colors like shades of pinks or purples. So the cherry lips seems slightly unrealistic. If you change the color, it might cover more women and not lean cliche.
I’m also wondering if you rework the “bar tab closer down” line if it would improve the song. Something to think about and try if you want.
Very realistic, unique song idea!
