About This Song

It's an upbeat song about a guy who loves his friend from when they were kids, but comes back home to attend her wedding.

I liked how it started but not how it ended If I’m being honest I don’t think I truly believed it. I was waiting for the last chorus to say the opposite ..like “condolences on your big day”
And end with
Most of all know he dont love you
As much as I do

line 6 in verse 1, I’m asking what day are you taken back to. I understand where you were going with it, but was it a particular day? Same with the bridge.
Robert pointed to a nice twist for final chorus. Maybe more condolence to me than to her, leading to accepting “I should have loved you as much as i do”
Good song, for sure!

Good subject and well done. The bridge threw me completely, I think it needs work.
The final verse last words could be a little different as a final wish for happiness stated in a different way.

As Much As I Do

Written by Dusty Duhon

Verse 1
Daisy chains in your hair, a twist-tie wedding ring
Two kids playing pretend, to me it was the real thing
Teddy bears as our witness, giggles when I kissed your cheek
Two best friends forever, growing up in the summer heat

It’s the first time I’ve been back since I moved away
The smell and the warmth bring me right back to that day
I hoped I might run into you, maybe I’d stay
Didn’t know I would be crashin’ your wedding day

Chorus
Congratulations on your big day
I’ve never seen a bigger smile on your face
I hope he makes you happier than you’ve ever been
I hope he’s what you’ve been longing for, your best friend
Most of all I hope he loves you
As much as I do

Verse 2
Saw your mama start to cry when you came walkin’ in
Exact same laugh you had back when we were kids
You smiled and waved at me like nothin’ ever changed
Guess in your world it never did

Pre-Chorus
I thought that would be us someday
I’d been working on what I’d say
Ran it through my mind a hundred ways
But seeing you smile up there, all I can say is

Chorus
Congratulations on your big day
I’ve never seen a bigger smile on your face
I hope he makes you happier than you’ve ever been
I hope he’s what you’ve been longing for, your best friend
Most of all I hope he loves you
As much as I do

Bridge
You still have daisies in your hair
The summer sun still burns my skin
Everything feels just like it did that day
Except you’re standing there with him

Final Chorus
Congratulations on your big day
I’ve never seen a bigger smile on your face
I hope he makes you happier than you’ve ever been
I hope he’s what you’ve been longing for, your best friend
Most of all I hope he loves you
As much as I do
