Liked this song. Sorta feel like I’ve heard the melody before but that’s okay…to improve it I think you should lose the “too”. I think it’s stronger “I’m leaving Bandera and I’m leaving you.” Just my .02

I tend to agree with Robert. Same for leading the line with “So”. Would it be better as “I’m leavin Bandera, and I’m leavin you” It could force a nice dramatic pause between them and make it ring.

Leavin Bandera

Written by M.C. Hewlett

LEAVIN BANDERA

The sun drops low on Medina bend
Dust on my boots, I’m at it again
There’s a barstool dent where I used to pray
To feel something…to make me stay
If I stay I’ll grow bitter, if I go it will hurt
Love made to bleed, on this old Texas dirt
It hurts like hell, but I can’t pretend
Some towns hold you, some teach you when……

So I’m leavin Bandera with a heart beat thin
A dashboard cross, and a past full of sins
Those slow dance lies to the truth I found
In this cowboy town that never slows down
I love you enough to let you be free
Even if free means you ain’t with me
Goodbyes are never easy, but it’s time for the new
So I’m leavin Bandera, and leavin you too…..

You said stay, I said maybe someday,
But someday won’t fix the mess we made.
There’s a pull in the road, and a tear in my eye,
Bandera loves you, but it wants me to fly…..

I put love in your saddle
You twisted it around
I'm looking at this Texas sky
And the sun is going down

So I’m leavin Bandera with a heart beat thin
A dashboard cross, and a past full of sins
Those slow dance lies to the truth I found
In this cowboy town that never slows down
I love you enough to let you be free
Even if free means you ain’t with me
Goodbyes are never easy, but it’s time for the new
So I’m leavin Bandera, and leavin you too…..

I’m leavin Bandera, and leavin you too
