When I couldn't go fishing with my daughter, I suggested she call grandpa. Her face lit up and in no time they were catching some bluegill. She made me think about what is really important...spending time with people we love.

Fishing With
VS 1
When the daffodils start blooming
From the warming of the sun
I can hear the water calling us
To come and have some fun
PRE
And sure I hope the fish’ll bite all day
But the good Lord knows I’m a winner either way
CH
Cuz when we grab our bait and tackle and head down to the lake
The day is full of promise cuz we’ve got memories to make
It’s never really been about how many fish we get
I just love who I’m fishing with
VS2
Oh, I taught my daddy patience
As he taught me how to fish
And now I’m reaping what I’ve sown
Teaching my own kids
PRE
And sure I hope the fish’ll bite all day
But the good Lord knows I’m a winner either way
CH
BR
I’m happy when we’re on a roll
Catching from our honey hole
Teasing ‘bout the ones that got away
But even when the fish don’t bite,
There’s more than fishing on the line
Man, there ain’t much better than these days
CH
TAG
I just love, oh I love, who I’m fishing with

I like this song for several reasons. First the hook it brings back a dozen memories of family times and all those people in my life I have shared fishing with. My dad and mom taking us fishing in Colorado as kid . My wife and I fishing on a quiet pond up on Wolf Creek Pass. Me taking my boys fishing on the Pecos River. I love the line about teaching “my daddy” patience. It reminded me of the time my youngest son slung his fishing pole back for a cast and instead put the hook of a little lure right through my right earlobe. Had to wear it like a creepy earring until we got back to civilization a couple of days later. Anyway, good song. It’s got some potential. Most songs I hear don’t make me feel much of anything these days but this one sure did!
