About This Song

The idea came to me while sitting on the curb during a garage sale. As I reminisced on my many trips to Mexico, the lyrics seemed to just flow out effortlessly. I admit that Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville came to mind. I ended up recording it and publishing it.

Let me know your thoughts. There is always room for improvement and/or some well-known artist to record it.

Hello Gino, I just got a chance to listen to your tune back to Mexico, I enjoyed it a lot. The only I put I would offer ( not that my opinion matters much) is during the break, I think you should have used a nylon string guitar and not a steel string guitar. The nylon string guitar is something I have always loved as part of traditional Mexican music. But other than that, I love everything else including your vocals and those great high notes. I am a new member to S.W.P. Your song reminds me of one I wrote called El Paso, one day soon I will upload this tune and others to this platform.

I’m drinking tequila
I can’t keep her off my mind.
I see the moonlight
And her hypnotizing eyes.
The scent of her perfume
That I brought back with me
Makes wish I could be
Back in ol’ Mexico.

But I’m drinking tequila
I can’t keep her off my mind
I hear the music
There’s no use I’m traumatized.
I’m a victim of fate,
Words I cannot translate;
I can’t help but remember
That sensuous stranger
Down by that moonlit bay.

CHORUS Ole! Ole! I’m going back to Mexico
Tequila, a senorita just for me.
Ole! Ole! I’m going back to Mexico,
To the sun and the music,
The truth is: I can’t stay away.

Instrumental 8 bars

When love bites like a bug
It is not like the flu
You can’t shake it, I tried
With tequila all night…. (RETARD)

BRIDGE And if there is a cure
I won’t find it ‘round here
So I’m packin’ my bags
‘cause it’s drivin’ me mad
to be so far away.

CHORUS Ole! Ole! I’m going back to Mexico
Tequila, a senorita just for me.
Ole! Ole! I’m going back to Mexico,
To love and romance
Fiestas and friends
To the one that I love.

CODA
Love and romance
Fiestas and friends
To the one that I love.
Love and romance
Fiestas and friends
Back to ol’ Mexico! Ole!
