Quarantine tested our family's faith, but it also inspired me to write new lyrics. As my devout Christian family grappled with the difficulties of COVID-19, my mother's severe symptoms led her into a deep depression and a crisis of faith. One difficult night, I found myself writing a heartfelt prayer in the form of lyrics, questioning if we were heard.
The song that emerged was a conversation with God, a melodic reminder to trust and rejoice in His eternal nearness. These lyrics, which poured out effortlessly, marked a rare moment in my songwriting—a night filled with fear and love. Now, as we recover, this song stands as a testament to our enduring faith and God's goodness.
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on whether the music style complements the lyrics. Also, if you feel there's anything I should address or add before sharing it with a wider audience, your input would be invaluable to me. Thanks for your time

VERSE 1
When life makes no sense
and when hurt and pain turn to shame
When hopelessness tries to destroy my mind
and every prayer to God seems to fall
behind every night
When my heart sinks with despair
and my soul says I don't care, anymore
CHORUS
Then I hear a voice say,
"Come near, come to Me, your Lord is near"
"Come here, my Word is your guide"
Hear what I say to you,
Rejoice in the Lord always
Again, I say rejoice
Don't be anxious deep inside
VERSE 2
There have been many times,
I felt my faith turn into ashes
The ground fell away like sinking sand,
Just like Peter, who was drowning
I needed a helping hand,
When my heart sinks with despair
and my soul says I don't care, anymore
CHORUS
Then I hear a voice say,
"Come near, come to Me, your Lord is near"
"Come here, my Word is your guide"
Hear what I say to you,
Rejoice in the Lord always
Again, I say rejoice
Don't be anxious deep inside
BRIDGE
It is by His Grace I stand
It is by His strength I move
It is by His Love I am redeemed
It is by His goodness I'm freed
CHORUS
Then I hear a voice say,
"Come near, come to Me, your Lord is near"
"Come here, my Word is your guide"
Hear what I say to you,
Rejoice in the Lord always
Again, I say rejoice
Don't be anxious deep inside
CHORUS 2 (Ending)
Yes, I will rejoice, and again I say my soul rejoice
for the Lord is near, and His goodness is here
Look at the cross for there is nothing clearer
Then to see your Father has come to be near
Then to see your Father has come to be near
