The Shadows Twin

Written by Karen Willett

Fallin’ down drunk on Friday nights
Mama all mad and startin’ fights
Clinchin his fist, her cryin’ moans
Children they scream with tremblin’ bones
Flippin’ the lights on, covers fly
Little eyes wide with terror cry
Holdin’ his leg, that swingin’ lick
Mama took with that window stick

Chorus
Battles in life so many years
Soakin’ their souls with drenchin’ tears
Blazin’ the trail, the leaders win
Children will walk, the Shadow’s Twin

Pourin’ of tears, in utter shame
Broken and bent, the Shadow’s blame
“Children don’t go, we’re changin’ now”
Swearin’ to stop, their solemn vows
Forty years later still throwin’ down
Comin’ home late, no supper found
Pitchin’ of chairs, the broken panes
Babies cry “Help”, no family came

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
Out in the street little children play, Follow the leader their leaders’s way;
And the only way they know to go is where you have led
They’ll remember your paths even when you’re dead!!!!

Repeat Chorus
TAG
“I AM THE SHADOW’S TWIN”
