About This Song

This song is for anyone that's ever been in a relationship where you had to beg your significant other to do things they should want to do on their own if they truly love you. It's about finding strength to move on and be with someone who values you.

Beautiful lyrics, i followed the story very easily.
The melody is one that’s been missing for a while.
I’m showing my age but it makes me think of Lacy J Dalton.

That Ain’t You

Written by ANNA Wescoat

Verse 1

I called you up, said I've had enough, I'm leaving for good
Finally got up the nerve, to live the life I deserve, I never thought that I could

Pre Chorus-

I'm done giving you chances
To be my man if
You wanted me

Chorus

You would've got up and danced with me
Loved holding hands with me
Knew all my hopes and dreams
And my favorite songs
You would've called just to talk to me
Never stopped holding me
Dried all my tears when my heart broke in two
But that's why I'm mean it, when I say I'm leaving, cuz honey we both know the truth,
The man who would give me his all,
that ain't you

Verse 2

Lord knows I tried, I swallowed my pride,
Thought it might just be me
But the truth really hurts, knowing you never were, really in love with me

Pre chorus-

So I'm through with trying
No tears left to cry, if
you wanted me

Chorus

Bridge
So don't try and stop me
Or pretend like you'll miss me
You had plenty of time for all that
I'm done wasting love on you
Done thinking you'll come through
I'm ready to get my life back
If you knew me at all you'd know that

Chorus
You should've got up and danced with me
Loved holding hands with me
Knew all my hopes and dreams
And my favorite songs
You should've called just to talk to me
Never stopped holding me
Dried all my tears when my heart broke in two

But that's why I'm mean it, when I say I'm leaving, cuz honey we both know the truth,
The man who would give me his all, that ain't you
