About This Song

This narrative song follows pretty closely with a scene from the 2006 movie, "The Darwin Awards." It also follows the well known Mythbuster, legend of the man with the rocket car.

While less commercially viable as a radio hit, aren't there still artists out there who like these complex story songs?

How The Glory Glows

Written by Joseph Holt

How The Glory Glows

Eddy Sebastian Rocko
Took his life into his hands
The day he strapped that rocket
To the back of his cheap sedan

He leveled her off past sixty
Before he finally lit the burn
Eddy just wasn’t the sort of man
To give the rest of it much concern

The beast was born to burden
Thirty thousand pounds of steel
Eddy’s little ‘82 Chevy
Found that a whole lotta shoe to fill

Oh
How the Glory Glows
it shines like a sun
flashes like flame
As you etch your dreams in the road

Oh
How the glory glows
It fills the sky with
Chemical fire
Was it everything you hoped

He moved fast past a hundred and ten
Much to his surprise
He hit the brakes when the highway poles
Became a blur before his eyes

He was running hot straight and true
There was nothing much Eddy could do
But when he felt the tires leave the hubs
He decided to buckle up

CHORUS

A little boy on the desert road
Saw fate approaching fast
All he could see was a fireball
Coming on like a fist of wrath

Eddy Sebastian Rocko
Entered his final desperate plea
If I can miss the little boy
You can do what you like with me

The windows cracked
The mirrors when snap
The shaft came through the floor
Speed ripped the hood from the car
When the pressure tore off the doors.

There’s nothing there of the right front rim
But the left one’s off the ground
He could see the end of the road
Was coming hard fast and loud

Oh
With seconds left to burn
Eddy missed the little boy
With a thousand foot vertical turn

Oh
With seconds left to burn
Death it comes to the quick soon enough
But some of us get there first.
