I’m loving it Meaghan! Getting major feels from the symbolism in your lyrics and the harmonies on the chorus! Simple and beautiful!

Meaghan,
Welcome to Frettie! Great job. “Blacktop Ballroom” really nice. I’m with John and Dick on this. I get some really great visuals from the chorus.
Very catchy and memorable. Thanks for sharing!

VERSE:
Fields fly by the windshield
Wheels carry them away
Hum of the engine slows
With a click of the brakes
They park by the dead end sign
Where the gravel meets the grass
They're two captivated souls
On an old cracked country road
CHORUS:
And they sway to the beat of their hearts
Eyes reflecting country stars
Bare-feet, pavement, hands on her waist
And the air smells fresh with June
They dance under summers moon
'Till the sun peaks through
On their Blacktop Ballroom
VERSE:
With the crickets to sing
They don't need a band
Her cut-off jeans pulled close
To his dark farmers tan
In simple disguise
They light up the night
They're two souls in love
And that is enough
(REPEAT CHORUS)
She don't need fancy tables set for two under starlight chandeliers
She don't need glass shoes
(REPEAT CHORUS)

Meaghan,
I hope you remember me from the EspressoYourself Music Cafe open mike. This is great - good hook, tremendous visuals, sweet melody. memorable chorus. I also think you did a really good job of supporting your hook with almost every line. But, of course, I was won over the minute the banjo started playing Good song.
