Co-written with Dana Snyder, we both had very different ideas conceptually of the "Empty Chair" - this is our combined look at both of our experiences.

Empty Chair - written by Dana Snyder and David Freeman
VERSE 1:
Time to rescue the folding chairs
From their prison under the stairs
Gathering dust when no one’s here
Welcoming the crowd about to appear
VERSE 2:
Casserole dishes, serving trays
Return to their usual counter space
A familiar scene set to unfold
Not like before if you didn’t know - that there’s
CHORUS:
An empty chair at the table
Reminding me what used to be
All too aware we won’t be able
To ever, fill that seat
VERSE 3:
We bow our heads then raise a toast
Try our best at cracking jokes
We dance and sing to our favorite tunes
But one less voice fills up the room - cause there’s
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
Some day, there’ll be new kids in those old folding chairs
And new grown ups noticing, that there’s
CHORUS (2X)
