Hey Bob,
I listened to the whole thing!  It’s a fun song, for sure! It was a little too long for comfort, and that’s probably because of each family member taking the long break on their instrument. It would be an awesome singalong for an actual family band performance! Whatever plans you have for it, I wish you the very best of luck with it! You did a really good job writing it, and it made me smile and tap my toes!!

A Bluegrass Family Band

Written by Bob Strachan

A Bluegrass Family Band
Bob Strachan – (C) 2020

I met a man, they called him Dan
With a six-string in his hand
And he wants to be in a bluegrass family band
They call him Dan and he wants a band and he plays…

Here comes the bride, with deep blue eyes
A lovely gal called Grace
She wants to play, the bluegrass family bass
They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass and she plays…

Son number one, his name is John
He’d got daddy round his finger
And he wants to be, the bluegrass family singer
They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass
Along came John, he sings along and he sings…

Son number two, he came out blue
His daddy named him Beaux
He wants to play, the bluegrass family banjo
They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass
Along came John, he sings along
Here’s ole Beaux with his ole banjo and he plays

Well here comes Lee, always needs to pee
And he stands in the middle
And he wants to play, the bluegrass family fiddle
They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass
Along came John, he sings along
Here’s ole Beaux with his ole banjo
Lee’s in the middle plucking on the fiddle and he plays

They had a girl, with golden curls
Now Bobbi ‘s good at handli’
She wants to play, the bluegrass family mand’lin
They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass
Along came John, he sings along
Here’s ole Beaux with his ole banjo
Lee’s in the middle plucking on the fiddle
Bobbi grins with her mandolin and she plays

Then the word got out, through a family shout
And the cousins say “That’s grand”
We’d like to be, in the bluegrass family band

[Speed up]
So there’s cousin Jean, with the tambourine
Aunt Veronica, she plays harmonica
Then Uncle Judd, whacks on the tubs
And Uncle Bud who blows the jug
And Granny Sharp with her ole jew harp
Cousin Mord with his big wash board

How many more?...
[Speed up]

They call him Dan and he wants a band
His wife’s called Grace with the upright bass
Along came John, he sings along
Here’s ole Beaux with his ole banjo
Lee’s in the middle plucking on the fiddle
Bobbi grins with her mandolin
And they play…
